What is Collaborative Law?

Collaborative Law is often used when couples divorcing would prefer not to meet together in mediation sessions, yet want to remain out of the courtroom. If this is the case, meeting with a collaborative lawyer can help provide you with the legal help you need so that you are fully informed, and give you your best chances of quickly resolving your matters outside of the courtroom. Individual, hourly legal consultations are available for you if you believe mediation is not an option. You can use this approach whether your spouse has already hired a laywer or not.

Individual Consulations may be right for you if you do not want to:

  • Pay a large retainer fee for a lawyer;
  • Litigate in the courtroom; or
  • Mediate (or your spouse is not willing);
And you would rather:
  • Stay out of court while protecing yourself legally;
  • Complete your divorce efficiently and effectively;
  • Get immediate legal advice in order to inform yourself; or/and
  • Get legal advice by the hour, as you need it.
